Arsenal have now apparently dropped their asking price for Lucas Torreira, and are prepared to take an £8.5 million loss on the midfielder, the Guardian report.

Torreira joined Arsenal for £26.5 million back in 2018, but he could now be allowed to leave for £18 million.

Arsenal have been trying to find a buyer for Torriera all summer, but their initial asking price was set much higher.

The Gunners were struggling to attract interest in the Uruguayan at the original price they were asking, but Torreira seems to be close to moving now.

Fiorentina and Torini are both keen on the 24-year-old, who has fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal may have to agree to a deal with sees Torreira join the Italian clubs on loan initially, with a permanent transfer being arranged at a later date.

Torreira’s sale could cause some disappointment, as he remains a popular figure with many Arsenal supporters.

But his departure would help to fund a move for Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar, which would be an important capture for Arteta’s men.
