According to The Independent, Arsenal are now prepared to sell defender Konstantinos Mavropanos this year.

It’s claimed that Mikel Arteta is looking to engineer a clearout at Arsenal, with a host of fringe players now primed for the chopping block.

The report adds that Arsenal are also willing to offload two of their loaned-out players on permanent deals, with Lucas Torreira and Mavropanos available.

Mavropanos, 23, is currently out on loan at Stuttgart having spent the second half of last season on loan at fellow German side Nurnberg.

The Greek centre back has made six appearances for Stuttgart this season, and seemingly hasn’t done enough to convince Arsenal that he should be kept.

Sven Mislintat signed Mavropanos for Arsenal back in 2018 having been impressed with him at PAS Giannina, but he has only played eight times for the Gunners.

Mislintat signed Mavropanos again by luring him to Stuttgart, and appears to be a favourite of the German talent-spotter.

Mavropanos may not have had the season he was hoping for, but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Mislintat sign him again – this time permanently – in 2021.
