According to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Glen Kamara, and have been monitoring the Rangers midfielder closely.

What’s the story?

Well, Arsenal are desperate for reinforcements in the central midfield department, mainly due to the Africa Cup of Nations and COVID-19.

Mikel Arteta is currently without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been loaned to Roma.

Granit Xhaka is also suspended for three games, whereas Martin Ødegaard has tested positive for COVID-19.

90min believe Arsenal have scouted Kamara over the past 18 months.

They add that Aston Villa are also interested in the man who cost Rangers just £50,000.

Interestingly, Kamara actually used to play for the Gunners, but was let go by Arsène Wenger in 2017 before joining Dundee following a trial.

Since then, his career has gone from strength to strength at Ibrox.

Arsenal should avoid Glen Kamara

As well as the 40-cap Finland international is doing in Glasgow, we feel it’s too risky for Arsenal to re-sign him.

The Scottish Premiership is not comparable to the Premier League, so there’s a chance Kamara will fail to adapt to the added intensity.

Additionally, the 26-year-old has a contract with Rangers until May 2025.

Therefore, it would take a hefty sum to convince Giovanni van Bronckhorst to part with one of his best players, even more so in the middle of the season.

Rangers also find themselves in a stronger negotiating position now, as the £16m sale of Nathan Patterson to Everton boosted them financially.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen.
