According to The Mirror, Arsenal are now plotting a last-gasp move to sign Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt.
It’s claimed that Arsenal wanted to sign Palace talent Tyrick Mitchell, but the Eagles just aren’t willing to let him leave any time soon.
However, Palace are interested in offloading Van Aanholt, believing this is a last chance to bring in cash for the Dutchman before his contract ends this summer.
The 30-year-old can walk away for free in a matter of months, and Arsenal could now swoop in to take him to the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta wants a new left back before the deadline, seeking competition for Kieran Tierney having allowed Sead Kolasinac to rejoin Schalke.
Van Aanholt has made more than 200 Premier League appearances, meaning he could provide the experienced option that Arsenal are seeking.

The former Chelsea man has been exciting going forward for some time, and whilst he is a little shaky defensively at times, he can provide an attacking thrust.
This could be a bargain deal for Arsenal given that they’re only seeking cover for the currently-injured Tierney, and with Van Aanholt looking to make the Dutch squad for the European Championships, a move could make sense for all.
