According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe this summer.
It’s claimed that Arsenal want Smith Rowe tied down to a long-term contract soon, but they have yet to reach an agreement with the playmaker.
Aston Villa want to sign a playmaker this summer, and are now looking into a bold move for Smith Rowe in case Arsenal don’t convince him to stay.
Villa are also eyeing Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia in search of more creativity, but Arsenal are discussing a move for him according to the Daily Mail.
This presents a fascinating scenario; Villa could sign Buendia and leave Smith Rowe at Arsenal, or Villa could end up snapping up Smith Rowe with Arsenal free to grab Buendia.
Ultimately though, losing Smith Rowe would be a disaster for Arsenal, given that he is a homegrown talent who immediately boosted the Gunners’ form when he came into the team.

Smith Rowe has been branded ‘exceptional’ by Jamie Redknapp having starred this season, thriving alongside fellow Hale End product Bukayo Saka.
Smith Rowe does still have two years left on his deal, but the Gunners cannot afford risking losing him to a Premier League rival, and they must respond to this Villa rumour by getting a new contract sorted.
