Arsenal are said to have made contact to sign Hakan Calhanoglu from AC Milan, according to Sky in Italy.
Arsenal are thought to be looking for a playmaker in the summer, with Martin Odegaard believed to be their top target.
The Gunners have taken Odegaard on loan and his impact has already been so vast that the decision to try and sign him permanently already seems to have been made.
Arsenal are putting in place contingency plans though, as landing Odegaard is unlikely to be easy.
And it seems that Calhanoglu is now firmly on Mikel Arteta’s side’s radar.
The Turkish creator has just months remaining on his contract at AC Milan, which means that he could be one of the bargains of the summer.
With Arsenal unlikely to have lavish funds to spend, he could be a good value for money option to solve an issue in their squad.

Calhanoglu has actually been described as the ‘new Mesut Ozil’ by Karlsruhe coaching legend Winfried Schafer (Goal) before, and if he could bring similar quality on the ball as the German then Arsenal would surely be delighted.
The 27-year-old has chipped in with nine goals and two assists in Serie A this term.
