Arsenal are said to be looking at signing Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny, the Daily Mail report.

Arsenal are looking to add more cover in the full-back positions, with right-back a particular area of concern.

Hector Bellerin’s future at Arsenal looks extremely uncertain, which leaves Mikel Arteta’s side assessing their options.

Kenny is now said to be emerging as a potential option for Arsenal, in what would be a rather surprising deal.

The English full-back has struggled to break into Everton’s team ahead of Seamus Coleman, with his best form coming out on loan in the Bundesliga.

If Arsenal were to bid a significant amount it is, therefore, difficult to see Everton standing in his way.

The Gunners surely wouldn’t be signing Kenny to be their number one choice, though.

That seems too big a risk on a 24-year-old who is yet to really prove himself in the Premier League.

The positives of doing a deal for Kenny, who was once hailed as a ‘great defender’ by Aaron Lennon (Everton) are obvious, though.

If he can succeed at Arsenal his value will quickly rise, given that he is still young and English.

And he could potentially be a bargain signing, if he does go on to fulfil his potential, with Jamie Carragher among the Everton man’s big admirers.

He said: “I really like him [Kenny],” he said. “He is your typical Scouse full-back, very aggressive, takes no prisoners but he also has quality going forward.

“You can see what it means to him playing for Everton. The traditions of Everton are that they always have those types of players.”
