According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal could now face a major problem in their hunt to sign Martin Ødegaard on a permanent basis.
What’s the issue?
Well, the Spanish news outlet say that Real Madrid are hoping to use the 25-cap Norway international as bait to lure Erling Braut Håland to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The pair are good friends, and know each other well from their time in the Norwegian national team.
As covered by the Mirror, Mikel Arteta previously hinted that he would like to sign the 22-year-old permanently.

However, the Spaniard’s hopes could be scuppered as Real Madrid look to use Ødegaard as a bargaining chip.
Håland – who is currently at Borussia Dortmund after they paid his £17.1 million release clause at RB Salzburg – is one of Europe’s hottest players.
The 20-year-old has an astounding 25 goals in 24 appearances this season, as well as seven assists to his name.

However, SPORT have revealed that Ødegaard and Zinedine Zidane do not get on.
They added that the Arsenal No.11 will not return to the Spanish champions while Zidane remains at the helm, which adds an interesting angle to Mundo Deportivo‘s story.
Without a doubt, this is certainly a saga worth keeping an eye on.
