According to El Confidencial, Arsenal currently aren’t planning to bring Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos back for another year.
The Gunners swooped to sign Ceballos last summer. Unai Emery beat a number of clubs to secure a season-long loan deal, with no purchase clause.
That pretty much summed up that Real had plans for Ceballos in the future. He maybe hasn’t been Zinedine Zidane’s favourite player in two separate spells, but the club see his potential.
Ceballos is schedule to return to Madrid soon, leaving Arsenal with a decision to make. Now, it’s claimed that they’re currently not planning to try another year-long loan for next season.
Sevilla want Ceballos, but his Real Betis ties means he isn’t keen. He may try and force his way back in Real, but an extended stay with Arsenal now looks unlikely.
Ceballos, 23, has made 24 appearances for Arsenal, but notched just one goal and two assists. He was starting to turn in strong performances in a deeper midfield role, but the global pandemic stopped him in his tracks.
Arsenal will have to cut their cloth accordingly this summer, so a permanent move being avoided isn’t a huge shock.
Yet with Mikel Arteta needing midfield reinforcements, it is a surprise to read that Arsenal won’t look to another loan; a deal that wouldn’t break the bank in tough times.
There is still time for this situation to change, but it seems that Ceballos isn’t a priority for the Gunners right now.
