90Min claim Arsenal and Newcastle are ‘possible destinations’ for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio this summer – after he changed his agent to Jorge Mendes. The midfielder is about to enter the last year of his contract.

Asensio, 26, joined Madrid seven years ago as a teenager from Mallorca and has gone on to clock up a huge 235 senior appearances for Madrid. But his game time is beginning to lessen, starting only 23 of his 42 outings in 21-22.

Now, with his contract ending in 2023 – which includes a £310m release clause (Independent) – Asensio is preparing for a move. 90Min report he has changed his agent, to that of supremo Mendes ahead of the summer.

They also claim that Arsenal and Newcastle are possible destinations for the Spain international in the coming months. Whether a move to the Premier League is upcoming, a Real Madrid exit certainly seems likely for Asensio.

Arsenal and Newcastle ‘possible destinations’ for Asensio

Asensio is the kind of player capable of magic. He can produce something out of nothing. Whether that be an assist, a bit of glitz and glam in the middle of the park – or a barnstorming shot from beyond the penalty area.

The Madrid playmaker has it all. Indeed, it begs the question why Madrid have allowed Asensio’s contract to run down. But, changing agent ahead of the summer shows he is ready to consider a summer exit.

If Arsenal can get him, it is a wonderful bit of business – regardless of whether they need him or not. But they lack Champions League football. Newcastle have the cash and the project, but again, no European action.
