Arsenal may struggle to convince Jules Kounde to join them, the Athletic say.
Arsenal are apparently interested in landing the Sevilla centre-back, as they plot a way to improve their defence this summer.
But Kounde is being valued at £50 million by his current side and apparently may want Champions League football.
Arsenal missed out on Europe altogether this season, despite winning on the final day, and that could leave their chances of signing the Frenchman extremely limited, according to the latest update.
Arsenal do already have a number of options at centre-back, but there is a feeling that a new leader of the backline may need to be purchased.
David Luiz’s departure leaves room for another defender to sign, and the appeal of Kounde is obvious.

His centre-back partner at Sevilla, Diego Carlos, labelled him as ‘very strong’ in the Daily Mail back in March and since then he has continued to go from strength to strength.
At the age of 22, he is regarded as one of the very best defensive prospects in Europe.
But Arsenal may have to start making contingency plans over not signing him, as any move appears unlikely at the current stage.
