Spanish outlet SPORT report that Inter Milan want a fee of at least £58.5million for Lautaro Martinez – as the race hots up to sign him. Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal are among the clubs interested.
The Copa America winner, 24, is not enjoying his best season at Inter but was superb last time around – having a hand in 30 goals during 47 games. This season, he has netted 12 times in 33 appearances, but remains crucial.
CalcioMercato reported earlier this month that both Arsenal and Manchester City are taking a look at Martinez – while TMW say Tottenham are still keen on the ex-Racing Club forward ahead of the summer window.
A fee of £58.5million is needed for Martinez – which would make him Tottenham’s second most-expensive signing behind the £63million paid for Tanguy Ndombele. Arsenal paid similar for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
£58.5m good business for Martinez – as Arsenal and Tottenham lurk?
Without a doubt. Arsenal spent £72million for Nicolas Pepe, and as aforementioned, Spurs paid £63million for Ndombele. Both players have flopped in North London – with Ndombele already on loan.
Pepe has been linked with the exit door. So, clearly, both clubs are willing to spend big money – but a slightly smaller fee on Martinez would be so much better. A player that is deserving of proper, European superstar reputation.
Arsenal desperately need a striker with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah set to go – with both out of contract. Tottenham could do with a permanent option up top with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
