Arsenal misfit Sead Kolasinac is willing to stay at Schalke but will have to take a substantial cut on his £100,000-a-week wages, as reported by Sport1.

Even if the Bosnia international wants to stay at the Veltins Arena – a commendable stance considering this Schalke side are one of the worst in Bundesliga history – making that happen feels easier said than done.

Schalke have big problems on and off the pitch after all.

According to DW, the club’s entire existence was under threat last year, a precarious financial position made even worse by the devastating fallout following the pandemic.

So while Kolasinac is keen to help Schalke return to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking – with relegation feeling like a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ – it remains to be seen whether he’s willing to accept such a substantial pay cut to make that happen.

Sport1 believes the left-back is taking home about £30,000 a week during his loan spell at Schalke, far less than the £100,000 he earns at Arsenal.

Furthermore, the Gunners are expected to demand about £7 million if Schalke come calling about a permanent deal (Ruhr24).
