Arsenal are said to have made a move for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling by CalcioMercato.

Swap deal pending?

Arsenal have been linked with Sterling since the summer transfer window, but have not been able to pull off a deal to this point.

The attacker looks to be an extremely ambitious target, but he continues to struggle to break into City’s team.

That appears to have offered Arsenal hope that a deal could be done ahead of the January transfer window.

Edu is reportedly already making plans to sign the England international, who shone at Euro2020 in the summer.

Arsenal may not have the money to reach City’s asking price, but they are said to be trying to negotiate a swap deal to bring the price done.

The Gunners apparently have offered City a choice out of Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba to be included in the deal for the three-time Premier League winning winger.

Could a deal be done?

Whether City would accept any of those players joining remains to be seen, but with all three struggling to break into Arsenal’s team the deal could make some sense.

Sterling’s arrival would give Arsenal one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attackers in recent years, and would surely increase their potency going forward.

Sterling has been described previously as ‘world-class’ by Trent Alexander-Arnold (Daily Mirror) and while his club form over the last year may have dipped, his record previously is simply brilliant.

Sterling showed over the summer for England that he still remains a major threat, and his arrival at Arsenal would surely create a great deal of excitement at the Emirates, if Mikel Arteta’s side were able to complete a deal.
