Arsenal have made a transfer u-turn on deadline day, which should enable them to complete the transfer of Thomas Partey, Goal claim.
Arsenal have insisted that they won’t be paying Partey’s release clause throughout the whole of the summer so far, with Atletico Madrid simply batting away all the North London side’s offers to date.
But, with time running out, Arsenal have now decided that they will pay up to land the Ghanaian.
Partey has been one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets and, after missing out on Houssem Aouar, it seems that the Gunners will now press ahead and bring him in today.
Partey’s release clause is worth £45 million, which means that he will become Arsenal’s most expensive signing of the summer, when he joins.

The transfer is now expected to go through without a hitch, as Partey is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The news will surely be widely celebrated as Partey looks to be the exact type of midfielder Arsenal have been missing for years now.
The 27-year-old should offer them power, steel and discipline in midfield – and that could help the likes of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos to thrive, as they will have more freedom to attack.
