Well, the Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal rumours are beginning to gather some pace.

Coutinho has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, ever since his fellow Brazilian Edu returned to North London to oversee transfer-related matters in 2019.

According to Spanish outlet Sport this past weekend, the Gunners are still keen on signing the 29-year-old this summer.

The former Liverpool maestro joined Aston Villa on a half-season loan in January but Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier in March that despite hitting the ground running under Steven Gerrard, the Midlands outfit haven’t decided whether they’ll be signing him or not.

And that’s handy for Arsenal because there’s more reports coming out of Spain this morning.

Mundo Deportivo have reported that the Emirates Stadium outfit have already contacted the Barcelona-owned player’s representatives in regards to a potential move to Mikel Arteta’s side.

The report adds that the potential of Champions League football in North London could interest Coutinho.

Would Coutinho be a good signing?

In a word, absolutely.

Coutinho has been a revelation since returning to the Premier League, netting four goals and setting up three in 10 appearances thus far.

The big fear for Arsenal, prior to his Villa loan, would’ve been whether he can still dazzle in England after enduring a rough four years following his £142 million move to Camp Nou in 2018 [BBC Sport].

However, Coutinho has quelled those fears emphatically and suffice to say he’d be a cracking addition.

This is someone who his former Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino claimed had ‘magical powers‘ once upon a time and he’s starting to remind Premier League defences that he’s an absolute wizard – and one who Edu would love to finally land.
