Arsenal are keen on signing Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Gunners reportedly believe that Caicedo would be an ideal partner for Thomas Partey in midfield, as well as a long-term replacement for the Ghanaian international.
Indeed, Arsenal supposedly believe that Caicedo would work very well alongside the ‘really good’ midfielder in the Arsenal team.
Caicedo has been a breakout star for Brighton this season, impressing with his energy and tenacity in midfield, catching the eye of both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsenal are said to have bid £60m for the 21-year-old in recent days, and speculation about his future is ramping up after he missed training for Brighton recently. His recent post on Instagram shows that he is angling for a move, and while Brighton don’t want to sell, it’s hard to say no when a club like Arsenal are involved.
Many Arsenal fans will be excited at the prospect of Caicedo joining the club, as he has showcased all the attributes needed to thrive for one of the Premier League’s top clubs, and alongside a midfielder like Partey.
The Athletic also note that Caicedo Arsenal believe would be a good long-term replacement for Partey. The pair have a similar playing style, but there is a real discrepancy in terms of build and size, meaning that Caicedo may have to hit the gym if he wants to step into Partey’s shoes eventually.
The transfer window is heating up, and it will be interesting to see how this story develops. If Arsenal do manage to sign Caicedo, it could well mean that Granit Xhaka’s place in the team is under threat as Mikel Arteta dreams of using Caicedo with Partey in the heart of his midfield.
