Long-standing Arsenal target Christopher Nkunku could finally seal a summer switch to the Premier League after another fine campaign at RB Leipzig, as reported by Sky Deutschland.
Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery don’t have much in common.
While Emery was handed the keys to the Arsenal machine after working his way up the ranks, via Valencia, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain, Arteta was thrust into the limelight after just three seasons as Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man at Manchester City; one of the biggest jobs in football his first managerial role.
While the final, tortured days of the Emery era will be remembered for bizarre, basketball-style, end-to-end encounters which exposed each and every weakness in his Gunners squad, Arteta has introduced a semblance of steel and organisation that was sorely lacking before his 2019 arrival.
But Emery and Arteta appear to be in agreement about one thing: the talents of Christopher Nkunku.
Two years ago, Emery was pushing for Arsenal to sign his former PSG prospect in a £17 million deal before the fleet-footed Frenchman swapped Paris for Leipzig instead (Standard).

According to BILD, Nkunku still has admirers at the Emirates, even if his one-time Parc des Princes boss is long gone these days.
Martin Odegaard’s impending return to Real Madrid has left Arsenal scouring the market for a replacement. Nkunku, like Nabil Fekir, Bryan Gil, Emi Buendia and co, is not only a dazzling creative talent but also blessed with a relentless work-ethic, honed in Julian Nagelsmann’s high-pressing machine.
According to Sky, the £35 million-rated set-piece specialist could finally be on his way to England during the summer transfer window. And Arsenal are likely to be right at the front of the queue should Nkunku become available.
Since the start of last season, Nkunku has produced 12 goals and 24 assists in Leipzig colours.
