Well, William Saliba has left Arsenal……again.

It was confirmed earlier in the week that Arsenal had loaned their 20-year-old defender to Marseille for the 2021-22 campaign.

The decision didn’t go down well with some Gunners fans by virtue of the fact that Saliba – a £27 million signing in 2019 – still hasn’t made a single appearance for the club.

Some supporters also feel that the decision to loan him out again, having given him to Saint-Etienne and Nice in recent years, indicates that he has very little future in North London.

But Football London have today reported that Arsenal do in fact rate the player and are likely to extend his contract – which expires in 2024 for now – when he returns next summer.

Fan

The report adds that Saliba is a boyhood fan of the Emirates Stadium club, which could prove massive.

That means despite being unhappy these past 12 months, Saliba, who spoke out against Mikel Arteta in January, may be willing to stay at the club for the long term for the sake of fulfilling a lifelong ambition of playing for them.
