Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are leading the race for Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix, according to Marca.
Marca have reported that Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Felix from Atletico in the January transfer window.
It is the Gunners who have taken the lead, according to the report in the Spanish publication.
Could Arsenal really sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid?
While Atletico Madrid have publicly said that they are open to offloading Joao Felix in the January transfer window, just because Arsenal are leading the race for him now does not mean that a move will happen.
The Portugal international – who can operate as a forward, winger or attacking midfielder and played at the 2022 Qatar World Cup – is the world’s third most expensive player and cost Atletico €126 million (£108 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from Benfica in 2019 (Goal).

So, Atletico are not going to sell the 23-year-old on the cheap.
Would Arsenal be willing to spend £100 million on a single player in the middle of the season, especially one who is not a striker?
With Gabriel Jesus injured at the moment, Arsenal need to bring in a number 9, and Felix is not a natural striker.
