Arsenal are keen on signing Porto striker Andre Silva, report Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

Arsene Wenger reportedly dispatched scouts to watch Silva in action in the Champions League against Leicester City.

Silva is reportedly being continually monitored by the Arsenal boss, who has been a fan of his since watching him at the under-20 World Cup.

The youngster is just 20-years-old and has an impressive youth record for Portugal, with four goals in three under-21 games and eight goals in 10 under-20 matches.

Silva signed a new five-year deal with Porto in the summer, which includes a huge 60 million Euros release clause – which equates to £52.8 million, ESPN reported.

He has begun the season in fine form, scoring five goals in seven Primeira Liga games, and providing two assists.

With one assist to his name in the Champions League too, it is no surprise his form is catching the attention of the Gunners.

His price tag, if Porto stuck to demanding the full release clause, would count Arsenal out, with the fee clearly overpriced despite his big potential.

If Arsenal were able to get him at less than half the fee then he would be a shrewd addition, but it is not one that is likely to happen in January.
