Tottenham Hotspur will have to see off competition from their North London neighbours if they hope to sign James Maddison this summer.

James Maddison of Norwich City shoots on goal during The Emirates FA Cup Third Round Replay between Chelsea and Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on January 17, 2018 in London, England.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have the joined the likes of Everton and Southampton in the race to sign Tottenham target James Maddison from Norwich City at the end of the season.

Maddison has been in superb form throughout the campaign. Despite going into this season with just three appearances at that level under his belt, the 21-year-old has been one of the real stars of the year.

The playmaker has scored 14 goals – including several incredible finishes – and contributed eight assists in the league for the Canaries – but he has now set his sights on top flight football. And unfortunately for Norwich, who are not in the play-off discussion this year, there appears to be a number of takers for his signature.

The Sun reported last month that Spurs, Manchester City and Everton were keen, and now the Mirror has added the likes of Southampton, Brighton and Arsenal to the mix. The report adds that Maddison is rated at around £30 million.

Could North London battle over Maddison?

With the Gunners and Tottenham both linked, it may not be a huge surprise if fans of their respective sides were especially keen to see their team win the race and bag Maddison’s signature.

He appears to be an exceptional talent and have the kind of potential that may allow him to replicate the form that he has shown in the second tier this year in the top flight in future.

And given the level of interest in him, it would arguably be a huge statement from Mauricio Pochettino or Arsene Wenger or whoever does win the race if they manage to get him through the door.
