Arsenal have tracked Monaco lonaee Vinagre since 2016 – and are now set to challenge Premier League rivals Everton for the Wolves youngster.

In the last two years, Thomas Lemar, Bernardo Silva Benjamin Mendy and co evolved into some of the best in their position across the continent while Kylian Mbappe will become the second most expensive footballer in history when he joins PSG on a permanent deal next summer.
Ruben Vinagre, however, has undertaken his footballing education away from the Principality. The teenage left-back joined Championship promotion-chasers Wolves in the summer but, after just six league starts, is already tipped for bigger things.
The Mail reported in the week that Everton have tracked Vinagre’s progress at Molineux with Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves sitting top of the Championship table. Vinagre, who scored his first goal for the club against Burton recently, has been a real attacking outlet on the left and looks a promising successor to Leighton Baines.
This is not the first time Vinagre has been eyed up by one of the Premier League’s big boys, however. The report adds that both Arsenal and Manchester City have followed the former Sporting Lisbon star since he exploded onto the scene in Portugal’s victorious Under-17 European Championship campaign in 2017.
And The Mirror is now reporting that Arsenal could be ready to make their move in January. The report claims that a queue is growing for the teenager and Arsene Wenger may target him in the New Year to boost his left-back options, which currently contain Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal.
Both Arsenal and Everton have shown a willingness to give youth a chance in recent years so Vinagre should not be concerned about a lack of game time.
