According to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, with Newcastle also keen on his services.

What’s the story?

Well, the Premier League duo are monitoring Lingard’s situation at Old Trafford, as he strangely struggles for game time under Ralf Rangnick.

Despite a stunning stint on loan at West Ham last season, the 32-cap England international has only played 88 minutes of Premier League football this term.

Now, 90min believe Arsenal and Newcastle are interested.

However, it is said that Lingard would prefer to wait until the summer, which provides an issue for the Premier League duo.

90min add that Tottenham and West Ham are also interested in signing the man with 158 Premier League appearances.

If Newcastle are unable to sign Lingard, 90min believe they will turn their attentions to Ross Barkley and Dele Alli.

Manchester United are open to allowing their No.14 to leave, and will not stand in his way of a departure this month.

Jesse Lingard probably won’t join Arsenal or Newcastle

In our view, Lingard is too good to waste away on the sidelines.

We cannot believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rangnick have ignored the 29-year-old this season after his heroics for West Ham.

Lingard scored nine goals and provided four assists in just 16 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, which is simply world class.

It’s concerning to hear that he’d rather wait until the summer to move, although we think we know why.

Lingard will become a free agent in June, meaning he should get a hefty signing on bonus when he’s eventually snapped up on a free transfer.

The same happened to Aaron Ramsey, who was handed a £400,000-a-week salary when he joined Juventus, as there was no transfer fee involved.

For the sake of his football, it would be nice to see Lingard move this month.

However, for the sake of his finances, you can understand why he’s happy to wait.
