Arsenal have joined the race for Ajax defender Devyne Rensch after rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.

The Gunners are likely to be in the market for another right back this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to add competition.

Foot Mercato now claim that Arsenal are interested in landing Ajax talent Rensch this summer.

The report adds that Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in Rensch as they look to back Roberto De Zerbi.

This comes after rumours linking Rensch with a move to Liverpool.

Give Me Sport claimed earlier in April that Ajax talent Rensch is on the Anfield radar as a summer addition.

It was suggested that Liverpool could look to add a more defensive right back to support Trent Alexander-Arnold moving forward.

Rensch was on that wish list but Liverpool may now face a battle with Arsenal for his signature.

Who is Arsenal and Liverpool target Devyne Rensch?

Rensch has come up through the famed Ajax ranks having previously spent time with VV Unicum.

The versatile defender – who can play at right back, left back and centre back – has been prominent in the Ajax ranks for years now.

Rensch has featured for the Under-17’s, Under-19’s and Jong Ajax side before becoming a first-team player.

Now-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag gave Rensch his first-team break and he has been in the senior setup ever since.

Now with 87 first-team appearances to his name, Rensch has notched seven goals and five assists for Ajax.

Hailed as a ‘super talent’ by Dutch managerial legend Aas de Mos, Rensch burst onto the scene but maybe hasn’t quite hit the level expected of him just yet.

Rensch is still only 20 though and it may well be that Arsenal and Liverpool see huge potential in the defender.

That ability to play as a centre back may well appeal to Arsenal as they seek better cover for William Saliba.

Arsenal won’t be alone in this race though and must be aware of Brighton and Liverpool chasing the Dutchman too.
