Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign the Juventus centre-back.

According to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Arsenal are in pole position to sign Juventus centre-back Medhi Benatia this summer, as Unai Emery continues his rebuild at the Emirates.
The Spaniard has a lot of work to do if he is to guide his Gunners side back into contention for the Champions League places, and defence is obviously an area where he wants to bolster immediately.
Italian publication Calcio Mercato claims that in spite of Arsenal’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Emery is keen to bring the Morocco international to the Emirates as well.

They also claim that the Gunners are in pole position to sign the 31-year-old.
Good signing for Arsenal?
Benatia is incredibly experienced in playing at the very highest level, having spent time with Roma, Bayern Munich and now Juventus.

He is a street-wise defender, and possesses a tenacious approach to the game that would make him ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League.
At the age of 31, the Moroccan is now in the prime years of his career for a centre-back, and his potential arrival at Arsenal would undoubtedly strengthen them as a team.
