Emiliano Martinez isn’t the most high-profile Arsenal player to be linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer.
There’s constant speculation about Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang potentially leaving the Gunners, while Lucas Torreira and David Luiz have also been linked with departures.
But now there’s ‘uncertainty’ regarding Martinez – who hasn’t made a Premier League appearance for Arsenal since April of 2017 – due to a lack of game time in North London, according to The Sun.
And the report adds that Arsenal could look at Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster as a possible replacement for the 27-year-old.
Forster doesn’t appear to have much future with the Saints after they loaned him to Celtic for the 2019-20 campaign.
And The Sun reckons that Mikel Arteta could look to sign him as a number two for Bernd Leno, who has kept Martinez on the bench for 28 Premier League games this season.
Forster, who stands at 6’7, would be a superb deputy for the German but, at 32, does he really want to be playing second fiddle to Leno in the twilight of his career? Probably not and therefore you have to wonder if the former Newcastle stopper would be game to join Arteta’s side.
