Football website 90Min claim that Arsenal have discussed a January move to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby – but they may find they have competition from Newcastle, who is said to be a ‘dream signing’ for the Toon.
Eight-time France international Diaby, 23, has been sensational for Leverkusen since joining the club in July 2019. With 146 games for Bayer under his belt, with 84 goal involvements to his name. It has attracted huge interest from England.
In the summer, Newcastle were pursuing a move. The Athletic reported in October that Diaby is still a ‘dream signing’ for Eddie Howe’s side. But Arsenal are now also said to be talking about the exciting winger, who is rated at £60m.
Now, 90Min claim Arsenal have discussed a move to sign Diaby. However, their attention is on Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk. But with Mudryk’s side wanting big money, it might be that Arsenal turn to make a move for Diaby.

Arsenal discuss January move to sign Diaby, Newcastle also keen on him
Arsenal have clearly made signing a winger a priority. That is, despite the form of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. The winger coming to The Emirates is likely to provide cover for Martinelli and Saka – especially, in the Europa League.
The Gunners may also want to sign a striker – with Gabriel Jesus injured for a number of months. Signing a winger would allow Martinelli to act as cover up top, if they choose not to bring in another striker as cover for injured Jesus.
So, signing a player like Diaby – or Mudryk – makes sense. Whether Arsenal spend big in the winter window remains to be seen. But, if they are to maintain their charge for the League title ahead of Man City, it needs to be done in January.
