According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal held a meeting with Real Madrid this week to discuss a loan deal for Eden Hazard.
What’s the story?
Well, the French news outlet revealed in March that the Gunners had been in contact with Real Madrid over a deal for the £130m man.
Now, Foot Mercato state that Arsenal are making good progress, as the north Londoners saw their initial contact followed up with a meeting.
It was a similar conversation to the ones which led to Martin Ødegaard and Dani Ceballos joining Arsenal on loan, and Edu will surely take encouragement from those successful negotiations with Real Madrid in the past.
The proposed loan deal makes sense for Real Madrid, as Foot Mercato believe the Spanish giants are hoping to see Hazard shine at the World Cup in November, so they can sell him in 2023.
Therefore, the Belgium international looks likely to join the Gunners, although there’s one issue.
Eden Hazard doesn’t want Arsenal move

This will concern both Real Madrid and Arsenal.
According to Foot Mercato, Hazard wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and turn things around, and could even see out his contract, which runs until June 2024.
With just six goals in 65 games for Real Madrid, the 31-year-old has been a failure in Madrid, although he has been blighted by injury problems.

However, Hazard remains convinced he can shine for Los Blancos, which could prove to be an issue for Arsenal in their pursuit of the ex-Chelsea star.
Keep an eye on this saga, as there is still a long way to go.
