Arsenal will raise their asking price for Ainsley Maitland-Niles amid interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United, according to The Sun.

Wolves are interested in signing Maitland-Niles from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to the report.

The British tabloid has claimed that the Wanderers have had a bid of £15 million for the 23-year-old turned down, with the Gunners initially looking for £25 million.

Newcastle have also made an enquiry for the versatile player, according to The Telegraph.

However, according to the report in The Sun, Maitland-Niles’s brilliant performance against Liverpool in the FA Community Shield has left Arsenal having ‘second thoughts’.

The Gunners will now reportedly ask for more than £25 million for the 23-year-old, who head coach Mikel Arteta has said he “really” likes, according to the report.

Sensible stance?

Maitland-Niles, who can operate as a midfielder, full-back or wing-back, played well against Liverpool, and his performances in the final weeks of last season were very encouraging as well.

If the 23-year-old stays at the Emirates Stadium this season, then he will be an asset, and it makes sense for the Gunners to demand more than £25 million and get as much as they can for him given his recent form and England call-up.
