According to The Express, reports indicating that Evan NDicka has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal are jumping the gun.

Il Romanista reported last week that the Gunners had an agreement in place for Ndicka to join the club on a free transfer next summer upon the expiry of his contract, but, the Express are to believe that this is not the case.

However, despite this, that isn’t to say that Ndicka won’t be an Arsenal player in a few months’ time.

Indeed, while this report refutes claims that the Frenchman has already been signed, it does state that the centre-back is a player that Arsenal are keen on and negotiations may open next month when he enters the final six months of his deal.

Only then can a pre-contract agreement be signed, but it has to be said that a pre-agreement isn’t all that likely.

These situations are rather rare in football as players coming towards the end of their deals often have more leverage if they leave it later and can demand more money as the race becomes more and more open.

As for Arsenal, Ndicka would be a fantastic signing for the Gunners.

Despite having a dearth of left-sided defenders a few years ago, the north London club are now rather light on that front, and Ndicka could provide great competition for Gabriel Magalhaes in that position going forward.

Unfortunately, Arsenal may not have a free run at Ndicka, both Tottenham and Newcastle are reportedly keen, while Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe’s teams also have clear gaps in their XIs to accommodate a player like Ndicka.

Arsenal haven’t signed Ndicka yet, but they’re certainly in the race for his signature.
