Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will have to pay €40 million (£34.24 million) if they want to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, according to El Nacional.

What’s the story?

El Nacional have reported that Madrid are open to selling Asensio.

The Spanish and European giants are ready to cash in on the Spain international winger if they are offered €40 million (£34.24 million).

El Nacional reported earlier this month that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the 25-year-old.

Should Arsenal pay £34 million for Marco Asensio?

Asensio has had injury problems in recent times and is not really a key figure in the Madrid team anymore.

The Madrid no. 11 has made four starts in La Liga this season and made 21 starts in the league in 2020-21.

€40 million (£34.24 million) is not really a lot of money in this day and age, especially for someone like Asensio.

A former teammate of Martin Odegaard at Madrid, the winger has won the La Liga and the Champions League twice each with Los Blancos.

The former Real Mallorca man has also played 25 times for Spain.

Moreover, Asensio – who earns £117,000 per week as salary, according to Salary Sport – is only 25.

So, we can expect him to get better.
