Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the Real Madrid ace.

A report emanating from Spain today claims that the Gunners have a deal in place to sign Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema in the summer, but they need to up their bid from £35 million to £52.3 million if they are to obtain his signature, according to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol.
Arsenal seem to be extremely active in the transfer market, following Alexis Sanchez’s exit from the Emirates, and Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of the France international.

The 30-year-old moved to the Bernabeu from Lyon in the summer of 2009, for a fee believed to be in the region of £25 million, and he has scored an impressive 176 goals for Los Blancos in 346 appearances thus far.
Diario Gol claim that Wenger’s long term pursuit of Benzema could be set to culminate in the Frenchman’s transfer to the Emirates in the summer, with a deal between Arsenal and the player in place.

Real Madrid are demanding that the Gunners up their offer from £35 million to £52.3 million, however, if they want to sign the prolific striker.
At the age of 30, however, Benzema is arguably already past his best, and it is debatable whether there would be much wisdom behind paying such a substantial amount for him this summer.
