According to le10sport, Arsenal and Tottenham are going head to head for Houssem Aouar, but Spurs hold an advantage over their rivals.
What’s the story?
Well, the French news outlet believe Arsenal have submitted a bid for the France international, which is said to be below €20m (£17m).
Le10sport state that Lyon want €25m (£21.3m) for their No.8, who Arsenal are leading the race for.
However, the report claims that Tottenham can quickly reverse the situation should they submit a bid, as they hold a financial advantage.
Le10sport write that Tottenham have more money to spend than the Gunners, and will be able to outbid Mikel Arteta’s side.
While Lyon want £17m, as aforesaid, they won’t be able to reject a bid of over £17m due to their financial situation.
Tottenham signing Houssem Aouar would cause chaos
Aouar is a long-term target for Arsenal, having been heavily tracked by the Gunners for the majority of last summer.
In that respect, if Tottenham swoop in and get a deal done this summer, it would cause absolutely chaos at the Emirates Stadium, in our view.
The Arsenal supporters would surely be furious if they lost out on a long-term target, especially to their arch-rivals.
Furthermore, it would be extremely embarrassing for Arteta if Aouar ended up in N17 and proved to be a massive success.
In our view, we don’t understand the hesitation from Arsenal.
According to the Guardian, Arsenal bid £35m for Aouar as recently as September.
In that respect, why wouldn’t the Gunners now be interested in signing the same player for significantly less?
