According to The Mirror, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Real Madrid playmaker Isco following Martin Odegaard’s return to Spain.
The Gunners took Odegaard on loan in January, but with no permanent option in the deal, it always looked like a tough ask to bring him back to North London next season.
It’s now suggested that Arsenal have asked about signing Isco, whose role at Real Madrid may be hampered by the return of Odegaard.
The problem for Arsenal is that Isco allegedly wants to play in Europe, and the Gunners don’t have anything to offer him on that front having even missed out on the Europa Conference League.
Arsenal are waiting for Carlo Ancelotti to make a decision on Isco, having returned as Real boss this summer.
Ancelotti branded Isco ‘fantastic’ just last season, so there may well be a chance for the Spaniard to salvage his Real career after all.
The 29-year-old only started eight league games for Real last season, and he will need reassurances about his playing time if he is to stay.

This new report claims that Isco can be signed for around £6million plus add-ons, and Arsenal will allegedly face competition from Tottenham.
The Mirror claimed last month that Tottenham had a three-year deal prepared for Isco, who was branded ‘magic’ by Mauricio Pochettino, but Ancelotti’s return to Real threw a spanner in the works.
Speculation linking Isco with Tottenham has quietened down of late, and Arsenal may now hope to win the race for his signature.
