According to a report by The Athletic, Arsenal have asked a number of prospective new scouts to compile reports on Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

The Gunners have been linked with Berge for a number of months now, and with the London club looking to restructure their scouting team, they’ve asked applicants to compile reports on Berge.

This may just be an interesting way to recruit a new scout, or it could be a great way for Arsenal to compile information on a player who is genuinely a top target.

Berge coming to Arsenal would make sense, the Gunners are reportedly in the market for a new midfielder and the Norwegian could be available on the cheap after the Blades’ relegation.

The midfielder would certainly be an intriguing signing if he came in at Arsenal. After all, Rhian Brewster has previously described him as a ‘Rolls Royce’ of a footballer.

Of course, whether or not the Gunners actually move for him remains to be seen, and even if they do go for him, there’s no guarantee that they’ll land him with both Manchester City and Liverpool reportedly interested.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming months.
