It’s no secret that Arsenal badly need goalscorers.

Even with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette fit all season, the Gunners have managed only 14 goals in 14 Premier League games this season.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see Arsenal languishing in 15th in the Premier League table, but it looks like they’re ready to reinforce that area.

According to The Daily Star, the North Londoners want to sign out-of-favour Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior, who set them back £38.7 million in 2018.

The report adds that Arsenal tried to sign him during Unai Emery’s reign as head coach and that the English club remain close to his agent.

The 20-year-old, who can play anywhere across the front three, has two goals in 12 appearances this season, eight of which were from the start.

It remains to be seen if Vinicius would solve the Gunners’ problem with scoring goals, but they absolutely need more firepower.

For whatever reason, Aubameyang, who fired Arsenal to FA Cup glory as recently as August, has gone off the boil in a huge way this season, scoring three times in the Premier League – one of which was a penalty.

And if the addition of Vinicius makes him buck up his ideas, either as a wide player or a central one, then maybe the added competition would benefit Arsenal.
