Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Julian Brandt this past January.

The Gunners badly needed some creative sparks linking midfield and the forward line, amid Mesut Ozil’s exile and subsequent departure.

And although the Germany international was one of several names linked with the North London club, nothing materialised.

Instead, Arsenal went out and signed Martin Odegaard on a half-season loan from Real Madrid but with confusion over whether or not he’ll be staying for the long term, a number 10 is yet again on the agenda.

And Kicker in Germany has reported that Arsenal have put the Borussia Dortmund star back on their shortlist of potential summer signings.

Brandt is under contract at Signal Iduna Park for another three years and therefore Mikel Arteta and Edu shouldn’t expect to get him on the cheap, even if he hasn’t played a huge amount of football.

Gunners goalkeeper Bernd Leno revealed in midweek that he was texting the Dortmund playmaker earlier this year when the previous rumours arose.

And it’ll be interesting to know if the duo remain in contact after the speculation rekindled now.

Brandt has scored four goals and set up two in 44 games for the German giants this season.
