Arsenal were reportedly unsuccessful in a late approach for Juventus striker Simone Zaza.
Arsenal reportedly failed in a late attempt to sign Simone Zaza from Juventus, report Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.
The Gunners did not sign a single player on deadline day, with their only major summer signing, barring youth team acquisitions, being goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Arsenal made a late enquiry to Zaza’s agent over his availability.
Juventus learned of this and told the Gunners it would cost them £22 million to sign the Italian international striker.
Zaza had been linked with a loan to West Ham a week ago, only for Juventus to decided against a deal, as reported SkySports.
Tuttomercatoweb report that the high price quoted to Arsenal was because the approach came amid the passing of the Italian transfer deadline, a day ahead of the English one, which would have meant Juventus would not have had a chance to replace him.
Arsenal found the price too high for their liking and decided not to do a deal.
