Arsenal may have to be patient as they chase Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia, the Pink’Un suggest.

Reports surfaced yesterday in the Sun claiming that Arsenal had made an offer for Buendia.

However, the local media in Norwich are saying that the Canaries are yet to receive contact from the Gunners.

And even if Arsenal did bid now, it seems that they would not find out if they had been successful for some time.

International commitments

Buendia is currently away with Argentina, with the Pink’Un suggesting he wants to concentrate on national team duties before his own future.

Buendia is yet to be capped for Argentina, and was actually left out of his nation’s squad last night, amid the rumours that Arsenal had bid.

Whether that decision was due to transfer related matters is not yet known.

But it seems that Buendia is not of the mind to cut short his time with the national team, regardless of the outcome of Arsenal’s push for him.

Buendia is actually in Argentina’s squad for the Copa America which runs alongside the European Championships, so it could be that Arsenal have to wait until July to see if they are successful in their pursuit of the playmaker.

If Buendia was to join Arsenal he would be making a big step up, but the signs are that he is capable of coping.

The Gunners need to add creativity to their squad and the £40 million-rated Buendia would be in competition with Emile Smith Rowe for a starting place if he was to arrive at the Emirates Stadium.

The news that Arsenal may not be able to complete a deal swiftly could disappoint new transfer chief Richard Garlick, as the Daily Mail have said he is ‘determined’ to make the 24-year-old his first signing.
