Back in 2021, The Times revealed that Arsenal were interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb forward Mislav Orsic.

A move to the Premier League never materialised for the 14-cap Croatia international, but now, he could get his move to England.

What’s the story?

Well, after losing Chris Wood to Newcastle in a deal worth £25m, Burnley have money to spend.

£10m of that could be going on Orsic, as Lancs Live believe the Clarets have made contact with Dinamo Zagreb over a move for the 29-year-old.

Dinamo Zagreb are said to be desperate to keep the versatile attacker, who is contracted to the Croatian outfit until June 2025 – they value him at £10m.

It sounds as if a deal will be tough to complete, although with £25m burning a hole in their pocket, Burnley have the resources to tempt Dinamo Zagreb.

Should Arsenal hijack Burnley pursuit?

This may sound strange as Mikel Arteta is clearly targeting young players, although Orsic is someone who previously caught the Spaniard’s eye.

The Times are a reliable source, and Arsenal’s interest in Orsic is hardly far-fetched given the fact he scored a hat-trick against Tottenham last season.

In total, he netted 24 goals in 51 games last term.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract in June, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang currently exiled, Arteta could do with another forward.

For just £10m, Orsic wouldn’t be a bad shout to provide competition for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Keep an eye on this saga – if Burnley manage to sign Orsic, it would be an excellent move by Sean Dyche.
