Chilean outlet La Tercera claim Arsenal are keeping tabs on a shock return for Alexis Sanchez this summer with Inter Milan potentially terminating his contract – while Aston Villa will match his Inter Milan wages.
Sanchez, 33, clocked up 39 appearances for Inter last season – scoring nine goals and laying on five assists. But 30 of those 39 outings came from the bench. He is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

But the report claims that Sanchez is set to leave Inter this summer and could even depart as a free agent. A move that will cost Inter a huge £3.25million just to release the 146-time international from the Nerrazzuri.
La Tercera also claim that Arsenal are keeping tabs on a potential return, with his £125k-a-week wages too much for Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard’s Villa are willing to match his Inter pay cheque.
Arsenal keeping tabs on Sanchez: Villa will match wages
It would be a sensational move to see Sanchez return to the Premier League. An Arsenal legend, scoring 80 goals in 166 games and creating 45 more. His time at United was one to forget.
But a return to Arsenal would be sensational – and galvanise a somewhat divided fanbase after a fifth-placed finish. At Villa, it would be a stunning coup not only to sign Sanchez, but to beat Arsenal in the process.
Will he return to the Premier League? Interested clubs have got to consider whether Sanchez is now past his best, and is worth the risk. But, if Sanchez is open to playing a rotational role on a smaller contract, why not?
