According to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Celtic’s Ryan Christie, while Newcastle are also keen on the Scotland international.

90min also state that Brighton, Leicester, Southampton and Burnley are said to be interested on the 25-year-old.

Christie will enter the final season of his contract at Celtic Park in 2021/22, and he has given no major indication that he’ll be renewing.

The attacking midfielder – who cost Celtic £500,000 – is said to be considering his options.

90min say that Christie’s workmanlike attitude endeared him to Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, and could appeal to Mikel Arteta too.

The Inverness-born maestro has scored four goals while also recording 11 assists so far this season in 27 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side.

If you’re wondering what type of player Christie is, 90min said that he’s been likened to Leicester playmaker James Maddison.

After watching both men spend time on loan at Aberdeen, ex-Scotland boss Craig Brown even said that he felt Christie performed better than the England international at the Pittodrie Stadium.

The Glasgow Times quote him as saying: ‘We had Ryan Christie on loan from Celtic and we had James Maddison on loan from Norwich City.

‘I watched every game that Maddison played and every game that Christie played for Aberdeen, and my opinion was that Christie was the better player.’

Arsenal are in desperate need of an attacking midfielder, as Mesut Ozil’s exile continues.

90min add that the Gunners could be in a good position to land Christie, as he is close friends with Kieran Tierney – the pair share a room together while on international duty with Scotland.
