Arsenal and West Ham United are going head to head for Alexis Claude-Maurice.

Alexis Claude Maurice of Lorient during the French Ligue 2 match between Red star and Lorient at Stade Pierre Brisson on September 14, 2018 in Beauvais, France.

According to Get French Football News, Arsenal will launch a new bid of €13million (£11.5million) for Lorient attacker Alexis Claude-Maurice this week.

The Gunners don’t have a huge budget to work with this summer having missed out on the Champions League, and Unai Emery will have to work hard to find bargain deals.

One player on the radar is Claude-Maurice, who excelled in Ligue 2 with Lorient this season, racking up 14 goals and four assists in France’s second tier.

Primarily a left winger who can also play as a number 10, Claude-Maurice has excelled with his blistering pace and impressive end product, and at just 21, he has a huge future ahead of him.

Now, Get French Football claim that Arsenal will make a new move for Claude-Maurice, offering €13million (£11.5million) having already failed with a €7million move.

That news comes just hours after Sky Sports reported that West Ham are offering £10million for Claude-Maurice, with Arsenal already planning to outbid their offer.

Alexis Claude Maurice of Lorient celebrates his goal during the french Ligue 2 match between Paris FC and FC Lorient at Stade Charlety on April 15, 2019 in Paris, France.

However, Lorient allegedly won’t sell for anything less than €15million, and hope to take the deal up towards €20million in the end, meaning both London clubs face a battle to land the young Frenchman.

Lille, Mainz, Monaco and Borussia Monchengladbach are also thought to be interested, and Lorient will no doubt hope for a bidding war given how many big clubs are in the mix.
