According to 90min, Arsenal, Everton and Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Matthew Hoppe from Schalke 04.
What’s the story?
Well, the Premier League trio have joined Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham in the race to sign the 20-year-old.
Hoppe burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga last season with a hat-trick against TSG Hoffenheim, as Schalke 04 won 4-0.
In total, the 3-cap USA international scored six goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances.
Sadly, that was just one of three league wins for Schalke 04 as they were relegated, and their financial situation is now a dire one.
The German outfit are in such desperate need of cash that they’re willing to let Hoppe leave for under £10m, according to 90min.
In truth, a player of his potential should easily command over £20m.
Who does Matthew Hoppe play like?

When writing a feature about the American, the Bundesliga made an interesting – and very, very bold – comparison.
They likened Hoppe to Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski.
Specifically, the Bundesliga mention his physique, and his intelligent movement in front of goal, as comparable traits to the Polish forward.

Of course, Hoppe still has a long way to go to reach Lewandowski’s level, and also a long way to go in general after just one season in senior football.
However, for under £10m, the aforementioned Premier League clubs would be silly not to snap the striker up – he has the potential to be a superstar.
