Arsenal duo Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Hector Bellerin are believed to have been offered up to Newcastle United last month.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that Newcastle were offered a ‘long list’ of potential loan signings from other Premier League clubs.

Arsenal duo Maitland-Niles and Bellerin were two of the players offered up; Maitland-Niles missed out on a move to Everton and Bellerin joined Real Betis.

Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury, Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks and Everton defender Mason Holgate are also understood to have been on offer.

Newcastle didn’t pull the trigger on any of those deals because they all required loan fees, which the Magpies claimed they couldn’t afford.

Signing Joe Willock permanently took a huge chunk out of Newcastle’s budget, but few could have expected it to completely rule out any other signings.

Maitland-Niles could have offered Newcastle quality at right wing back or in midfield, offering a versatile option especially in a system with wing backs.

The 24-year-old has been stuck at Arsenal and could have really taken off at Newcastle, just as former Arsenal man Willock did.

Bellerin would have been quite the coup for Newcastle, and fans have to be frustrated that the Magpies can’t even secure top loan deals, never mind permanent cash signings.
