Arsenal had been looking to loan out Emile Smith Rowe, but his recent performances mean that he is now set to stay at the club in January, CBS report.

Smith Rowe had found chances hard to come by in Arsenal’s first-team, but Mikel Arteta has finally given the playmaker some opportunities of late, and he has taken his chance.

Smith Rowe has helped Arsenal to two wins in their last two outings, as they have gradually started to climb the table.

The 20-year-old has offered Arsenal an injection of creativity in midfield, which was badly needed.

Smith Rowe has always wanted to stay at Arsenal, but was prepared to move on in search of game time in January.

However, the Gunners are now said to be set to keep hold of Smith Rowe, with Arteta prepared to give him more chances in his starting line-up.

That will surely be music to the ears of the youngster, although competition for places could increase in the new year.

CBS say that Arsenal are still looking for a number 10 in January, with Isco a major target.

Arsenal are next in action against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, and Smith Rowe looks likely to start again in that contest.
