According to Nice-Martin, William Saliba is leaving Arsenal for Nice on loan in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Saliba will join Nice on loan for the rest of the season with no option to buy.

Marseille were also interested in signing the teenage defender, but he has decided to join Nice instead, according to the report.

It has been further claimed by the French news outlet that Saliba is going to undergo a medical this morning.

Sensible decision

Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019. Unai Emery, then in charge of the Gunners, told the club’s official website in July 2019 that he was “delighted” to sign the defender.

The teenager stayed on loan at Saint-Etienne last season, but he has failed to play a single minute in the Premier League under manager Mikel Arteta so far this campaign.

It makes sense that the 19-year-old is reportedly set to join Nice, as he will get more playing time and will continue his progress as a footballer.

Perhaps Saliba will be in a better position to break into the Arsenal first team next season after his loan spell at Nice.
