Scotland boss Steve Clarke will have to make do without Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney who has pulled out due to an injury setback.

Kieran Tierney of Celtic signals to the bench during The Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Arsenal’s left-back Kieran Tierney has suffered an injury setback which will keep him out of Scotland’s games in the international break later this month.

The former Celtic man made his debut for the Gunners last week in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest and was hugely impressive. Arsenal fans were hopeful of him being included in the squad against Manchester United but his reported setback could keep him out for another few weeks.

The report says that Scotland boss Steve Clarke was set to name Tierney in his squad to face Russia and San Marino later this month but discussions with Arsenal’s medical team forced Tierney to make an 11th-hour withdrawal from his national squad.

This is also a huge blow for the Gunners who only have Sead Kolasinac available at left full-back. The Bosnian’s defensive frailties have been seen time and again which made Tierney’s return a huge boost. However, he is expected to miss the games against Standard Liege in the Europa League and Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Scotland will not have too many problems at left-back with Liverpool’s Andy Robertson available for selection. Clarke will, however, be disappointed with Tierney’s absence as the new Scotland boss hasn’t been able to call him up since being appointed in May this year.
