Arsenal are potentially just a few days away from finalising a deal to sign Willian, according to a report.

The Brazilian is heavily linked with a move across London as his Chelsea contract looks set to expire.

Willian has been offered a two-year deal by the Stamford Bridge club, but Arsenal have reportedly offered a three-year contract [The Sun, August 5, page 54].

The Blues are in Champions League action away to Bayern Munich on Saturday night.

And according to Goal.com, the 31-year-old’s switch to Arsenal could be finalised ‘soon after’ that game in Bavaria.

These are exciting times for Arsenal and although Willian won’t excite a lot of fans, given his age, it could be a stellar bit of business.

The Emirates Stadium side have just announced 55 redundancies inside the club, illustrating the financial struggle following the global health crisis.

In short, there might not be a tonne of money available for the sort of exciting, eye-catching signings that the supporters crave.

Arsenal might be forced into an economic approach to incomings, and Willian, being free, is certainly a bargain.
